The line-up for this year’s Ipswich Music Day has been announced.

Rounding off the town’s annual Ip-art festival, the event on Sunday, July 7, is one of the biggest one-day free music events in the country – and it is organised by Ipswich Borough Council with more than a little help from its friends.

Fifty six acts will play across seven stages during the day at Christchurch Park.

“We’ve got some great stars in the making here and I am sure they will give their all to put on a happy show. Around 50,000 people come to Music Day every year and there is a huge variety of music on offer, from classical to world, from soul to reggae,” said Ipswich Borough Council’s culture portfolio-holder Bryony Rudkin.

Ed Sheeran played to just a few hundred people there a few years ago. Today he could fill a football stadium.

“Everyone has to start somewhere. It’s fun listening to lots of singers and bands and trying to predict the next star,” she added.
