A man was subjected to a robbery attempt while resting on a park bench in Ipswich in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police are appealing for information following the attempted robbery in Bourne Park.

Sometime between 1.30am and 2am on Wednesday, February 26 the male victim was resting on a bench in Bourne Park near to the toilets when two men approached him and made attempts to go through his pockets.

During the incident the offenders grabbed the man by his throat and pinned him to the bench. They also tried to steal the man’s bike, which was chained to the bench before walking away.

The first man is described as tall, of thin build, aged between 28-30 years old, of ‘Mediterranean’ appearance and with a dark beard. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark clothing.

The second man is described as short, of medium build and with a bald head. He was wearing a light grey top.
