Holywells Park has been shortlisted.

Two of Ipswich’s best-loved parks have been shortlisted for a regional award.

Now you can help make Christchurch Park or Holywells Park the regional winner in the East of England heat of the UK Best Parks award run by the Fields in Trust charity – formerly the National Playing Fields Association.

Both the Ipswich parks have been restored over recent years thanks to millions of pounds given by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

They are included in a shortlist of 28 parks from across the region that are up for the East of England award.

People can vote from them by visiting the Fields in Trust website at

Ipswich council’s portfolio holder for parks Phil Smart welcomed their inclusion and urged users to vote through the website.

He said: “We are very proud of our parks, and these two have seen considerable investment over recent years.

“Not only have we invested a considerable amount of money, and our staff have done a great job, but there has also been considerable effort from volunteers – and lottery players have a stake thanks to the grants that have been made.”

People have until next Wednesday, November 9 to vote in the Fields in Trust ballot for the regional award.
