A police car ended up on its side after knocking down a low garden wall of a house in Norwich Road, Ipswich, on Saturday lunchtime.
No one was seriously hurt in the accident – but it did cause serious problems for motorists heading to Ipswich town centre for the Championship match with Reading.
The accident happened near the junction with Lower Dales View Road and forced police to close Norwich Road between Springfield Lane and Richmond Road not far from the Tesco neighbourhood store.
Bus services were diverted for about two hours and drivers had to find alternative routes into the town centre. The road was re-opened at about 3pm and traffic quickly returned to normal with no problems for motorists after the match.
The police car was on an emergency call with its blue lights and sirens on – and was heading to an emergency call in south west Ipswich at the time of the accident.
