Police are growing increasingly concerned over a man who has not been seen by his family since New Year’s Eve.

Gavin Francis, 44, was reported missing on New Year’s Day after leaving his home in the Purdis Farm area, Ipswich, to go for a bike ride on December 31 at around 5.45pm.

Two days later police found his bike near to the Orwell Bridge.

Since then Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue, the coastguard and Suffolk police including the force helicopter have made numerous searches of the area.

Work has also been done to ascertain whether Mr Francis has been in touch with any friends or family but no evidence of any contact has been found.

Mr Francis is white, six foot tall, of average build, with dark brown receding hair, blue eyes and is clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a navy blue lycra cycling top with a white stripe down the side and navy blue lycra cycling shorts.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him in the area of the bridge on the evening of December 31.

Anyone with any information should call Ipswich police on 101.
