MORE than 1,600 homes in Ipswich were without power last night after a power failure involving an underground cable.
UK Power Networks engineers were called out to an area in south west Ipswich following the failure at 6.33pm yesterday.
Supplies to 1,634 customers were restored, in groups, by 7.30pm. While more than 180 households were in the back for more than an hour longer.
He added: “We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power, especially during the darker evenings, and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident.”
All power was back on by 8.40pm
