Police have arrested a man in connection with an incident at Ipswich railway station.

Officers from the British Transport Police were sent to the station, in Burrell Road, in the early hours following reports that a person had been seen close to the railway line.

The force were also responding to reports that an office had been damaged and two members of staff had been attacked.

They were joined by units from Ipswich Central Police, who assisted at the scene.

BTP officers arrested a man on suspicion of trespassing on the railway, criminal damage and common assault in connection with the incident.

He remains in custody for questioning this morning.
