An Ipswich couple, who were involved with many charities in the town, have marked their diamond wedding anniversary.
Ron and Olga Keveren celebrated with family and friends – 60 years after first tying the knot in Gloucester.
The couple, who have four children and six grandchildren, moved to Ipswich when Mr Keveren became a lecturer at Ipswich Civic, later Suffolk College, where he taught pre-nursing students for over 25 years.
Mr Keveren said his students became a familiar sight at Ipswich Hospital, where they became known as “the pink girls”, due to their bright uniforms. He was also chairman of charities including Age Concern, Crossroads, Sound On and the Foxhall Day Centre. He presents an illustrated talk, entitled I Don’t Believe It at local clubs.
Mrs Keveren worked as a housewife and secretary, including running The Probation Service’s secretaries office.
