A nine-year-old girl from Ipswich is embracing the season of goodwill by having her hair chopped off for charity.
Gorgi Upton, who attends Britannia Primary School, will donate more than eight inches of her long locks to the Little Princess Trust.
The charity provides wigs free of charge to children who have lost their own hair due to illness.
Her proud mum, Sharon Upton, said: “She wanted to help someone else and her hair is way to long for her to manage so she will give it to someone else.”
The big chop will take place at St John’s Conservative Club in Ipswich on New Year’s Eve, which is also Gorgi’s brother Alfie’s eighth birthday.
Mrs Upton, who for the past 27 years has worked as a care assistant at Ipswich Hospital, said: “She wanted to start the new year with a new hair cut.”
The money raised will be split between East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and St Elizabeth Hospice.
Gorgi has already collected around £1,500.
