A shop owner has told how he is living a never-ending nightmare after his store was targeted by crooks for the fifth time in two months.

Danny Stephan, 31, runs Penalty 2 off licence in Ellenbrook Green with his brother Johny Shaia.

Around 3.20am yesterday the store was ram-raided by two suspects in a blue van.

The drove it into the shop frontage to get inside and made off with the till and its contents.

But Mr Stephan said he was not shocked by the incident because of what he says is the frequency of similar crimes in the area.

“They will keep coming and I expect them to come here,” a frustrated Mr Stephan said, before describing the damage his shop had suffered.

“They took the till but the whole front of the shop has been damaged. The shop is not secure and I have to risk my life staying here.”

And Mr Stephan added he felt let down by police.

“I don’t feel the police are doing enough to stop it and I can’t see any serious response from them.

“I’m really frustrated. I feel it is their responsibility.

“They are always ready to take comments but no results. I have lost trust in them.”

Mr Stephan said his health was suffering as a result of the repeated crimes which have cost him several thousand pounds and damaged his trade.

“It’s never-ending this nightmare, not only for me but for all the area,” he said.

“It’s not just me facing this problem, the whole area is facing it. We need someone to help us.”

A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “These burglaries are being fully investigated by detectives, who are following-up a number of leads in connection with them.

“Increased police patrols in the area have also been taking place in efforts to deter further offences and catch those responsible. Victims of these break-ins are offered support from their local Safer Neighbourhood Team and also crime reduction/security advice, to help reduce their chances of being targeted again.”

The suspects in the Ford Transit-style van are described as a white man and a black man, both wearing dark clothing.

An investigation has been launched to find the culprits and anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Ipswich CID on 101 quoting incident number IW/15/3140, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
