Ipswich solicitor urges county's employment tribunal claimants to seek fee refund

An Ipswich solicitor has said that employees in East Anglia who were charged employment tribunal fees in cases since 2013 should ask for their money back after a Supreme Court ruling found them unlawful.
Following the ruling, the Government has taken steps to stop charging them, but with thousands of people having had to pay in claims since 2013, Ipswich solicitor Adrian Green says people can claim the fees back.
The Kerseys solicitor said: “The Supreme Court recognised fees in this case could restrict access to justice.
“The Courts and Tribunal Service will now need to refund all of the fees that have been paid since 2013.”
Mr Green said that people could write to the tribunal quoting the case and ask for a refund of the fee, which could be as much as £1,200.
It is believed the ruling could open the doors to more people bringing employment tribunal claims who previously couldn’t afford to.
