POLICE are investigating after a string of break-ins at retail premises in Ipswich town centre.

Five incidents were reported to Suffolk police in a week-long period.

The first happened when entry was forced to a garage at the back of a menswear shop in Upper Brook Street between 4.45pm on March 5 and 9.15am on March 6. Nothing was stolen.

Cash was stolen from a charity shop in Upper Brooke Street between 9pm on March 6 and 8am on March 7 when thieves broke into a safe.

The third incident happened when attempts were made to smash two windows of a retail property in Fore Street before the offenders broke in through a back door.

Cash, jewellery and alcohol were among the items stolen between 5pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.

Earlier this week cash was stolen from the till draw at a sandwich bar and a nail bar in High Street sometime between 6pm on Monday and 4.15am yesterday.

Officers are linking the two crimes in High Street while the others are not currently being linked.
