A THEATRE assistant who is a vital support to surgeons operating on patients at Ipswich Hospital is the trust’s latest Shining Light.

Sheridan Rey, who works in the Blyth Maternity Theatres, was nominated for the hospital’s internal awards scheme by a colleague who had to come into the trust for an operation.

The patient said: “Sheridan was absolutely outstanding. He was an extremely kind, considerate and totally caring person and made this awful experience tolerable.

“Though I fully accept he does this on a daily basis as part of his role, he made me feel like he could not do enough to support me throughout.”

Sheridan, who is from the Philippines, said: “I am inspired to do my work because of the support and kindness of my managers and colleagues. It’s because of that, that a beam of light radiates through me to our patients.”

Each month the hospital recognises a member of staff, honouring their hard work and dedication. Nominated by their colleagues, the winners are picked by the board.
