Ipswich: Town could get a great new Vue as cinema eyes up Buttermarket!

HOPES are rising that a new cinema could be created in one of the town’s under-used shopping centres.

The Star has learned that there have been talks between the operators of the Buttermarket Centre and Vue Cinemas about converting the former Allders and TJ Hughes department store into a multi-screen picture house.

Neither side is able to confirm the talks, but the Star understands planning officials at the borough have been sounded out about converting the building.

And the proposal has received an enthusiastic welcome from town MP Ben Gummer.
