Ipswich Transport Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Sunday with a cavalcade through the town and a special event at its Cobham Road headquarters.

And it will show off restoration work on its first-ever exhibit, a 1938 Dennis Ace bus (nicknamed the Flying Pig) which is due back on the road soon after an 18-month overhaul.

The cavalcade will leave the Cornhill at 10.30am, and Ipswich Mayor Glenn Chisholm will cut a birthday cake at 11am.

Guest vehicles will be visiting the museum and will be offering visitors rides alongside some of the museum’s own roadworthy exhibits.

There will also be a reunion of volunteers from the museum’s 50 years of operation which is based at the former Priory Heath Trolleybus depot.
