Travellers on a First Eastern Counties bus had a lucky escape when it was in collision with a lorry in Great Colman Street, Ipswich.

The bus was on a service to Felixstowe and was involved in the low-speed collision with a lorry.

The windscreen was broken, and there was damage to the front of the vehicle. No one was hurt in the incident, and the lorry was able to drive away after details were exchanged.

A spokeswoman for First said: “We are aware of the incident this morning involving our number 75 single-decker bus in Ipswich,

“Our bus was stationary in queuing traffic.

“There were no passenger injuries, and our driver was not harmed. We transferred all passengers to another vehicle, and there was no loss of service.”

The accident disrupted traffic in Great Colman Street until a recovery vehicle towed it away for the damage to be assessed by company engineers.
