Two inspectors have joined the Ipswich Local Policing Command in a bid to reduce crime in the borough.

Insp Chris Hinitt joins Ipswich Central and Gary Miller joins Ipswich South East as the inspectors for both the Safer Neighbourhood and Neighbourhood Response teams.

Insp Hinitt said: “I am looking forward to working on the Ipswich Central team, having enjoyed a period early in my career covering the town centre and dealing with issues affecting the different communities.

“I look forward to making a positive difference to local residents.”

His previous role was with the Western Area Priority Crime Team based in Bury St Edmunds, where he was a detective sergeant.

Joining Suffolk police in 1996, Insp Hinitt worked in Ipswich as a uniformed Pc on Stoke ward, the Chantry estate and the town centre, before joining CID.

Insp Miller has been with Suffolk Police for eight years and started his career in Newmarket.

“This is my first experience of Ipswich and I am looking forward to building on the good work that the teams are already doing.

“Throughout my service my emphasis has always been on a pro-active style of policing and proving a high quality service to victims of crime”, he said.

He has moved from Haverhill where he was a sergeant and he said his aim was to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
