Ipswich vocal group ‘Diamond’ have won a Brit Awards-style trophy ay the South East Entertainment Awards.
The group were formed in 2013 by Gareth Grayson to raise money for cancer research and other charities after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2009.
After being given the all clear, Mr Grayson was keen to give something back to those who had helped him.
On Sunday the group travelled to a glitzy awards ceremony at the Civic Hall in Grays in Essex, coming home with the ‘Amateur Artist Recognition’ award and performing to the crowds on stage.
Guests were also treated to star performances by Maisie Smith, who plays Tiffany in Eastenders and Thomas Bleasby from the X-Factor.
Following their win, Mr Grayson said: “For us this is great recognition which we are so proud of for all the work we do in trying to help make a difference in the community.”
