Ipswich: We’re Backing the Blues - show your support at Mick McCarthy’s Portman Road debut
IPSWICH TOWN: It’s time to get behind the boys in blue.
The Star and Ipswich Town joined forces today to send a clarion call to fans ahead of Mick McCarthy’s first home game as Tractor Boys boss.
We want supporters to give Mick a proper Portman Road welcome – and help roar the team to victory over Burnley.
As a new era at our famous football club begins, The Star has launched our We’re Backing the Blues campaign.
And to mark the Blues’ new chapter, we have five pairs of tickets for Saturday’s game to be won.
Ipswich Town has also got in on the act.
To entice the faithful back through the turnstiles and to ensure Portman Road is rocking once again, the club is offering fans the chance to buy a ticket for the Burnley game and get entry to one of December’s homes matches for just a tenner.

An ITFC spokesman said: “It is a new era for the football club and Mick McCarthy has already realised what terrific support Ipswich Town enjoys.
“We hope to see as many fans as possible at Portman Road on Saturday to get behind the boys and Mick in his first home game in charge of the club.”
Star editor Terry Hunt added: “We are launching the We’re Backing the Blues campaign to welcome Mick McCarthy to Portman Road.
“As Mick tries to lead the Super Blues out of the relegation zone and to safety, we want to see fans getting behind our boys.
“Show your support and get down to Portman Road on Saturday as a new era begins.”
For each adult ticket bought for the Burnley game fans will be eligible for a 10 ticket to see Town play either Millwall or Bristol City.
Retrospective discounts will apply for those who have already purchased their tickets.
The club’s Town Time promotion will also be in operation on Saturday, offering fans a voucher for a second free pint, before or after the game, when they purchase a pint more than 30 minutes before kick-off.
