A pedestrian was hit by a passing car in Ipswich yesterday, but the vehicle failed to stop.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Queens Way at about 11.40am.

The 44-year-old woman was walking along a grass verge when her arm was hit by a passing car described as red and new. The car slowed down, but then drove off towards Kings Way without stopping.

The victim sustained bruising to her arm and pain to her back and legs.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or the driver of the vehicle involved. Calls should be made to Pc Jon Harvey from Ipswich on 101.
