A woman who was involved in a car crash in Cromwell Square car park is in a stable condition in hospital after suffering life-changing injuries.
The 66-year-old was in a Honda CR-V which collided with a Ford Focus around 6.40pm on Tuesday, pushing it on top of a wall outside St Nicholas Church.
She was taken to Ipswich Hospital after the crash. Police said had received surgery on her legs.
A force spokesman said: “The woman is stable in hospital after suffering life-changing injuries.”
A spokesman for the force also said no one else was injured and no arrests were made.
Officers put up police tape around the scene of the crash for several hours.
The Ford was left teetering on the brick wall along the edge of the grounds of the church, which is also used as the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan offices.
