An Ipswich youngster has raised more than £800 for Selig Suffolk at the launch of her charity record at Sailmakers Shopping Centre.

Roma Nicholson, 11, performed the three songs on her Welcome to the Waterfront record with a special performance at the shopping centre, supported by Emma Collingridge, Miss Teen United Kingdom Continents.

The St Alban’s pupil raised £838 for her efforts, which also included an appearance at the Foxfest Truck Family Day, and was inspired to help the cause after her mum Rosa volunteered at the Ipswich Winter Night Shelter.

Roma said: “The people at Sailmakers were very supportive and it all went very well. It was great not just to sing there but also to listen to the other performers because it wasn’t about me it was for the charity.

“I was nervous but I always am before performing and I think it helps me.”
