The tour will be visiting Sailmakers Shopping Centre in the town centre from 10am to 5.30pm, with crowds of hopefuls expected to turn out to audition.

People have already been turning out at the centre keen to impress the judges.

Dwayne Clarke, an 18-year-old from Leiston, was one of those readying himself for an audition.

“I’m going to be singing Ed Sheeran’s A-Team. I used to sing a lot because I’m into drama and musicals.

“I haven’t practiced in a while but I’m hoping I’ll get through.”

A group called The Funky Twiglets had travelled down from Norwich just for the chance to audition.

The trio of Charlie Cooper, 25, Henry White, 21, and Jasmine Cowgill, 22, were confident they could make the grade with their take on The Smiths’ This Charming Man.

Mr Cooper said: “Me and Henry have the lower octaves and we let Jasmine play with her voice over the top.

“It’s not going to be like a traditional Morrissey song, it’s going to be more modernised.”

Centre manager Mike Sorhaindo said: “It’s great to have The X Factor here in Sailmakers and it should be an ideal venue.

“There is plenty of talent out there in the area and I’m sure there will be a queue of hopefuls here on Tuesday ready to have a go.

“It would be fantastic if we could find music’s next big thing here in Ipswich.”

Acts are advised to turn up early to Sailmakers auditions to be sure to grab a slot and if they impress, they will then be in with a chance of auditioning in front of the X Factor judges this summer.
