WHILE thousands pound the streets of London as they compete in this year's marathon, one Ipswich man will still be busy training for his big running challenge.

James Burman, 34, who works for Oyster Marine Ltd, is preparing to take on the Edinburgh marathon at the end of May for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Burman has notched up four marathons to date, including the New York marathon twice in 1999 and 2003, and the London marathon in 2007 and 2008. He has already raised more than 10,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He said: “I've always enjoyed running right from when I was at school but only took up long-distance running ten years ago.

“We all know people whose lives have been affected by cancer - family, friends and even celebrities. “There is no discrimination as to who it will affect next. In fact, they now reckon that there are two million people living with cancer in the UK.”
