TEENAGER Jessica Harding is doing something a little different in her gap year from studying - and is hoping to become a beauty queen.
Miss Harding, 18, has secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Miss England competition and now needs her friends, family and other people to vote for her.
“I have wanted to enter the competition for a while and thought my gap year would be the ideal time to do it,” she said.
“People have to vote for me on the Miss England web site and if I get enough votes then I will get through to the semi-final.
“I am hoping people in the town will support me because it would be great to have someone representing Felixstowe in such a big competition.”

Miss Harding, who lives with her parents Peter and Rosemary in Roman Way, Old Felixstowe, went to Deben High School before going on to Suffolk College to do her AS and A levels.
She is hoping to go to university next to study journalism but is taking a gap year to get some work experience, earn some money and travel around Europe.
“I have never been in a competition like this before, so it's all quite exciting,” said Miss Harding, who has a sister Laura, 21, and brothers Gav, 28 and Michael, 13.
She enjoys writing in her spare time and has completed some fantasy novels which she hopes one day will be published.
