BOSSES have scotched rumours of job losses at a Suffolk manufacturing plant.

One senior manager at the Caterpillar factory at Saxham, near Bury St Edmunds, said that reports that as many as 80 jobs were at risk were "false".

A spokeswoman for the heavy machinery company said it was a long-term practice of the firm not to respond to "rumours in the market place".

"As a normal course of business, Caterpillar routinely reviews the sourcing of its product at all of its facilities around the world.

"The Bury St Edmunds facility would be treated no differently," she added.
