AS news emerges that troubled singer Amy Winehouse is looking for a flat in the Bury St Edmunds area, it appears that another major celebrity could be joining her in a move to the region.

Rumours are rife that movie superstar Johnny Depp has his eye on Claxton Manor, about nine miles south-east of Norwich

For £5.5m, the actor would be able to buy this grade II-listed country house, built originally during the reign of Elizabeth I and featuring eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and four reception rooms.

And if that's not enough, there are also 826 acres of land, grazing marshes, farmland, woods and water.

Last year, the A-list celebrity was apparently turned away from the Fox and Goose pub in Fressingfield a few miles from the Norfolk-Suffolk border while scouring the area for a home.

But the buzz in the area is that Mr Depp and French-born partner Vanessa Paradis could be about to move into the neighbourhood.
