ALTHOUGH the spoils were shared on derby day, brave Terri Calvesbert was clearly a winner thanks to one Norwich fan.

Jon Bird, a 37-year old Norwich City fan was in town for the big match but took time out to visit Terri, for whom he raised more than £1,000.

Jon, who lives in Norwich, ran the London Marathon in April for Terri after he saw her a television documentary about her in October last year.

Watching her story moved him to run the 26-mile race so he could raise money for her.

He said: "I first heard of Terri when I saw the programme on television about her. I was training for the London marathon and I was inspired by her story.

"Throughout last winter thinking of Terri kept me going. In real life she certainly lives up to the brave girl I saw on that documentary."

Terri received 85 per cent burns in a fire in November 1998, but the five-year old has made good progress since and was clearly delighted to meet Jon.

Jon, who runs for Norwich Roadrunners, completed the marathon in a time of three hours 36 minutes. He had run the race before and always given money to charity.

Terri's father Paul said the money would go towards his daughter's own trust fund for her to do what she wanted when she was older.

"I'm pleased that of so many different charities, people chose to run for Terri" said Paul.

"I think there were three people running for her last year and the money is very much appreciated. And it's nice that a Norwich fan has done this. It shows they're not complete enemies!"

Fundraiser Jon also gave Terri a present of a teddy bear, complete with his London Marathon medal around its neck.
