An 83-year-old man from Nayland who went missing yesterday has been found safe and well on the outskirts of the village.

A police appeal was launched yesterday for Joseph Hamilton, who has dementia and was without his medication to manage diabetes.

Officers, assisted by police dog units, a National Police Air Service helicopter, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue, thoroughly searched the area yesterday.

He was last seen in Bear Street in the Suffolk village at around 7.15am on Friday.

Last night, fears were growing for Mr Hamilton who did not have his insulin with him to manage his diabetes.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said officers would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance with the appeal.
