JARGON-busting leaflets are now being produced by Ipswich Hospital, with help from a new readers panel.

The panel of 13 patients and representatives from local organisations, read and scrutinise information leaflets before printing.

Members are sent drafts of new leaflets to check each month and are asked to comment on them.

Regular meetings are also held with the hospital's Information Network Group made up of clinicians and staff who prepare information for patients.

Julie Stokes, patient services co-ordinator, said: "Members of the panel and the network group are able to discuss and raise issues about patient literature.

"This new partnership with patients and the wider community really is helping the hospital trust make sure that the information we prepare is jargon-free, easy to read and gives clear, understandable information."

To find out more about getting involved with the readers panel, or other projects call Julie on 01473 704769.
