A CARE manager has been spared prison after she admitted embezzling a total of 2,200 from people whose interests she was trusted to look after.

Sharon Bot, of Lyle Close, Kesgrave, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court after pleading guilty to two charges of fraud by abuse of position at an earlier hearing.

At the time of the offences, the 45-year-old had been working as a manager for Cephas Care in Ipswich.

The frauds had occurred over an 18-month period.

As part of her role, Bot was expected to safeguard the financial interests of those in her care. However, after a police investigation she was accused of defrauding two clients.

The inquiry began after her employer is understood to have referred concerns over Bot’s financial mismanagement to police in late May of this year.

The first allegation related to a woman who has learning difficulties.

Bot was accused of embezzling 1,400 from her. The offence took place between November 24, 2009, and May 12 this year.

The second charge related to a man who was also being looked after by the care company.

It was said that Bot took 800 from him. The fraud occurred between January 20 and May 15 this year.
