A little girl’s dream will come true after a concert raised the £2,600 needed to help send her on the holiday of a lifetime.

Courtney Paterson, 7, suffers from cerebral palsy and struggles to get around without the aid of her wheelchair.

After an operation to help her was cancelled Courtney’s grandmother Paula Paterson decided to do something to put a smile on her face.

She said: “Courtney is a tough little cookie and I just wanted to see a smile on her face.

“When I heard the operation had been cancelled I thought I had to do something.

“She loves Disney and everything about princesses and I know it would be a dream come true for her to see the princesses at Disneyland.”

Mrs Paterson, from Green Oak Road, Watton, performed a charity concert with her choir, Breckland Harmony, at Wayland Academy on Saturday.

She said: “She’s just a normal little girl, she has some good days and some bad days.

“She has to be tough but she takes it all in her stride and she always has a laugh and a smile for us all.”

Courtney lives in Kesgrave, Ipswich, with her mum Kelly Paterson, dad Andrew, brother Jay,9, and sisters Layla, 3, and Kacey, 11 months.

To fit with the theme of the night the choir also performed Courtney’s favourite song Let It Go, from the Disney film Frozen.

The youngster received a standing ovation after performing another song from the hit film on her own.

Courtney said: “I really personally want to see Queen Elsa (from Frozen) because she is my favourite.

“I am really excited.”

The trip will cost £3,500 and the concert along with a raffle at her school, Heath Primary School, and a curry night at Wells Cole Community Centre, in Saham Toney, near Watton, has helped reach the total.

Her mum, who attended Wayland Academy in its high school days, said: “She is definitely a princess. Everything she has has a princess theme, her room, her toys she even has princess splints for her to walk with.

“She is probably the child with the most additional needs I know but she is definitely the happiest child I know.

“To go to Disneyland really would make her so happy she is obsessed with princesses.

“It has all been really overwhelming, she is absolutely amazed by it all.”
