A special Big Lunch Fun Day has been organised in Kesgrave this month to help bring the community together and celebrate the town.
The big day runs from 11am-4pm on Saturday, June 10, and features community groups from across the town coming together to lay on displays, activities and games in celebration of Kesgrave.
Neal Beecroft-Smith, chairman of Kesgrave Town Council, said: “Kesgrave is a growing town with established and newer parts, events like this are excellent for bringing everyone together to celebrate what is good about living and working here.”
Among the groups which are laying on activities for Kesgrave residents to have a go at will be Kesgrave Cycle Speedway, Kesgrave Cricket Club, Kesgrave Kestrels Football Club, 1st Kesgrave Scouts and the Deben Archery Club.
Youngsters can have a go at the sports on offer, and find out more about joining the clubs.
Meanwhile, for those of a more creative disposition, Kesgrave Art Club will be exhibiting while budding photographers can submit their entries into the photography competition, which will be displayed in a special exhibition in the Millennium Jubilee Hall.
Music performances will come from Martlesham Brass, Heath School Choir and Pop Chorus.
Ipswich Transport Museum will be bringing one of its buses, which combined with a Suffolk Fire and Rescue fire engine and Foxhall Speedway representation, aims to provide a point of interest for petrolheads.
Other entertainment includes climbing wall, inflatable slide, soft play area and baby massage, as well as a dog show raising money for local causes.
Mr Beecroft-Smith added: “We have managed to include more organisations and activities this year and local businesses have also been very supportive.
“The town council would like to thank all those who already have, or will be playing their part in its success.”
He added that councillors were keen for residents to share their views on what should be included in the town’s neighbourhood plan, which is currently in development.
The Big Lunch Fun Day is expected to be the town’s biggest community event, and follows the success of last year’s Queen’s Birthday event.
