Pupils and staff at a Suffolk primary school are hoping to win a pot of cash set aside for community projects to revamp broken play equipment.

An application for a Aviva Community Fund grant has been submitted by the parent fundraising committee at Cedarwood Primary School in Kesgrave.

Thanks to several donations, they are one step closer to receiving the cash but need more votes to turn their hopes into reality.

School bosses hope to turn broken equipment into a ‘fit and fun trail’ aimed at boosting childrens’ health, confidence, balance and co-ordination.

Headteachers Douglas Stroud and Tina Shute said: “We believe that outdoor learning is absolutely essential for the whole development of all of our pupils.

“This new play equipment would be a fantastic addition to our outdoor resources.

“We are very grateful for the very hard work of our parents for organising the Aviva Community Fund application and we are hoping that as many people in the community will vote for this very worthwhile project.”

Nominations need to be in by 12pm on Tuesday.
