An Ipswich teenager who subjected his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend to a terrifying kidnap ordeal has failed in his bid to have his potentially lifelong sentence overturned.

London's Court of Appeal ruled that it was right to consider Daniel John Best, now 20, a danger to society after he forced his way into the house where she was seeking refuge from him, before dragging her out to a shed and holding her captive.

However he allowed the appeal to the extent that he reduced the minimum term that Best must serve before he can apply for parole to 18 months, down from three years.
