A SHOP worker foiled a knife wielding robber who demanded cash and cigarettes.
The robber, who burst into the shop on Ballingdon Street in Sudbury at 7.15pm on Tuesday, threatened the member of staff with a knife.
But the worker refused to hand over the goods or cash and the robber, who was in his late teens or early 20s, escaped empty handed.
A police spokeswoman said: “A man has entered a shop and threatened a member of staff with a small knife, demanding money and cigarettes. He spoke with a local accent.
“The member of staff refused and the man ran off. He is described as white, of medium build and was wearing a dirty white hooded top.”
Anybody with information on the attempted robbery should contact DS Ann Naylor at Sudbury CID on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
