MORE than 1,000 knives have been handed in at police stations across Suffolk as part of a five-week knife amnesty.Police have received a positive response from the public with the total of knives collected standing at 1,286.

Police have received a positive response from the public with the total of knives collected standing at 1,286.

It is thought that the final figure may exceed 1,500 as a couple of amnesty bins have not yet been emptied.
