Calling all doughnut fans – Krispy Kreme is opening a new store at The Buttermarket shopping centre in Ipswich next year.

The chain joins Wagamama, Byron Burger, Cosy Club and Prezzo which have all opened in recent months - and there are plans for two more restaurants to come. Some have already questioned whether this is an excess of eateries.

The new shop, which will open at 10am on February 7, is based on the retailer’s unique green dotty box design.

Staff will invite shoppers to put their bags down and their feet up to enjoy a variety of doughnuts on the opening morning.

But fans will be pleased to hear that they can get a taste of the action before the store even opens its doors.

In the weeks leading up to the big day, teams will be in the town centre offering samples to passers-by.

The retailer’s chief marketing officer Judith Denby said: “We are extremely excited to be bringing the joy of Krispy Kreme to Ipswich in February, and can’t wait to welcome in busy shoppers to grab their dozens.”
