A FORMER Labour representative at Suffolk County Council has announced he will be joining the Conservatives.
Phillip French, who was voted in at Haverhill, said: “I have become increasingly disillusioned with the Labour Party particularly over the European Union and lack of support for members of Her Majesty's Forces when overseas.”
Jeremy Pembroke, leader of the Conservative Group on the council, said: “I'm delighted to have Cllr French as a member of the Conservative Group. He is most welcome and I know he'll make a good contribution to our affairs.”
Julian Swainson, leader of the Labour Group, said the people of Haverhill would feel “let down” by the decision.
