Police said a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following the incident inside and outside a property in St Georges Street at around 2.15pm.

Laptops were among the items stolen in two burglaries.

The first break-in happened in Poppy Close between midnight and 6am on Thursday.

Jewellery, an iPad 4 and a Sony Vaio laptop were stolen, as well as keys which were used to take a silver Audi A3.

The car was later found at the junction of Swinburne Road and Shakespeare Road.

A second burglary happened in London Road between 6.30am on Saturday and 6.30pm the following day.

Entry was forced to a property and two laptops taken.
