Tomorrow is your last chance to grab tickets for the annual Ipswich Star and East Anglian Daily Times Christmas carol concert, which is raising money for a good cause in Ipswich.

The event takes place from 6pm on Tuesday at St Mary-le-Tower church, hosted by the Reverend Canon Charles Jenkin and his team.

Each year the event raises money for a good cause in the county, with this year’s event set to boost funds for Fresh Start – New Beginnings.

Tickets are £2 and available at our offices in Princes Street, Ipswich, with all proceeds going to Fresh Start – New Beginnings.

EADT and Ipswich Star editor Brad Jones said: “It’s a wonderful event which will certainly get everyone in the Christmas spirit, in the fantastic surroundings of St Mary-le-Tower.

“What better way to celebrate the festive season than with our annual carol concert – and at the same time supporting a charity that does great work to help children who have suffered terrible ordeals within our county.

“I look forward to seeing lots of our readers at the church.”

The church’s fantastic choir will help lead participants through a host of favourite festive carols at the picturesque venue.

The evening will also feature an address by Fresh Start – New Beginnings founder Diana Porter, who will highlight the work of the organisation in helping sexual abuse victims.

Ms Porter was given a special recognition at the Stars of Suffolk awards last month for her work with the cause, which she started five years ago after being made redundant.

The charity has helped more than 930 children across Suffolk who have suffered sexual abuse since it was established in October 2012, rebuilding their lives and giving them the chance to look forward to the future.

However, the organisation often finds it difficult to attract public fundraising and corporate sponsorship due to the distressing nature of their work.

It costs the charity around £2,500 for each child to go through their counselling programme.

To buy a ticket, visit our offices at Portman House in Princes Street, Ipswich and speak to the reception.
