Fundraisers are being urged to secure their place for the Midnight Walk, which this year will have a neon theme to celebrate the tenth birthday of St Elizabeth Hospice’s flagship event.

Almost 2,000 people have signed up to get their glow on for charity so far, with hundreds more expected to join the event in the next two weeks for what is hoped will be the biggest and best Midnight Walk ever.

The event starts and finishes at Ipswich Town Football Club and participants can choose to walk either a five or 10 mile route around the town centre to raise funds for their local hospice.

Catherine Sheppard, St Elizabeth Hospice’s events and challenges fundraiser, said: “We are all hugely excited for Saturday, May 7 and cannot wait to celebrate the special birthday of the Midnight Walk with hundreds of our fantastic supporters. We’re really looking forward to seeing the many people who have taken part before, as well as some new faces, joining us for the first time.”

To go with the birthday theme, there will be plenty of party entertainment, including face painting, a photo booth, UV bubble machine, cheerleaders, dancers on podiums, DJ, and a warm up led by Just Jay Dance Group.

Registration closes at 5pm on May 5. Everyone who takes part will receive a neon t-shirt and a special edition tenth birthday medal, as well as an essential hot chocolate.

Anyone aged 10 or over can take part and each participant is asked to aim to raise around £100 which could pay for five hours of nursing care.

Miss Sheppard added: “We want to make this year the biggest and best yet and after a record-breaking amount of people signed up with our early bird offer, we’re really looking forward to making this the greatest neon party the county has ever seen.”
