The work on the building, on the corner of Elm Street and Civic Drive, is due to finish in September.

As part of the project, the south carriageway of Civic Drive will shut from 5am-11pm on Sunday, August 2, to facilitate the use of a crane and demolition curtain to the west corner of the building.

Ipswich council leader David Ellesmere said: “It is a building which has been part of the town for many years. But it was not realistic to extend its life so it is important to clear the site and allow it to be redeveloped over the next few years.”
