Legal action to move travellers on from a car park in Ipswich has begun.
On Sunday evening a group of six caravans and associated vehicles arrived at the West End Road car park behind the former Zest nightclub.
On Bank Holiday Monday a further two caravans arrived at the site.
All of the caravans remain at the car park today.
The pay and display car park is run by Ipswich Borough Council, and situated near the River Orwell and Ipswich Train Station.
Cars are still able to use and access the car park, albeit with a reduced number of spaces available due to the caravans.
An Ipswich Borough Council spokesman said: “We have started the process of getting legal action underway,” and added that in the meantime welfare visits were being carried out by its partners for those who have camped at the car park.
It is not yet clear when the matter will go before the courts or when the travellers may be required to move on.
