The Suffolk Inter-Faith Resource has arranged a small area inside the main entrance of the Ipswich Central Library to be set aside as a quiet place for meditation and prayer for the peace of the world.

Following the tragic events of September 11th in America, the thoughts of all of us have been directed to those who lost their lives and loved ones.

Week of Prayer for World Peace was founded in 1974.

Its first Chairman, the late Dr Edward Carpenter established the guiding principal of the week in the words " The peace of the world must be prayed for by the faiths of the world."

This is the main basis of the Prayer for World Peace week.

The quiet area in the library can be used by anyone wanting the space for silent reflection for a few moments during the week of Monday 15th to Saturday 20th October.

The week will conclude with a special service at 10.45am on Sunday 21st October in the Unitarian Meeting House.
