THEY may be more used to jumping into the swimming pool but now they're going to be diving out of a plane!

Two lifeguards who work at Felixstowe Leisure Centre will be taking to the skies as soon as the weather permits over Cambridgeshire to raise money for the RNLI.

Lisa Mills, from Capel St Mary, and Steve Burgess from Felixstowe, are to make the leap from 3,500 feet at the North London Parachute Centre in March, Cambridgeshire.

Daredevil Lisa, 20, said they were both looking forward to the challenge this jump would bring them despite having to cancel because of bad weather.

"I can't wait to do the jump especially as we were supposed to jump last week and it had to be cancelled as it was raining.

Last Sunday Lisa and Steve, also 20, were due to jump, having completed an intensive 11 hour training course.

"The training was all in a classroom and we had to do mock jumps suspended from the ceiling. It was quite difficult as we had to react to different situations that may happen when we jump for real.

"It is quite a skilled thing to do and there is a lot to remember.

Lisa added that this was the first time she had done anything like this, but did have some parachute experience a little closer to earth.

"I once did paragliding from the back of a boat in Tenerife, but nothing as high up as this. Although after this one we may try a 10,000ft tandem jump!"

Both parachutists hope to raise at least £300 for the RNLI through the jump.
