TOP soul singer Lisa Stansfield has announced she will be coming to Ipswich next month as part of a nationwide tour.

The Rochdale born diva is the second major star to plan a visit to the town in as many weeks. Female vocalist Gabrielle has also outlined details of a two-gig visit to the St Helen's Street venue.

Lisa Stansfield, who has been wowing audiences across the world for more than a decade, will be on stage in Ipswich on September 26. Tickets for the show go on sale tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for Ipswich Regent said: "We are delighted that Lisa Stansfield has chosen to come to Ipswich. It will be her first performance in the town and it is her only East Anglian date on this tour."

The popular singer burst onto the music scene in 1989 with the number one smash hit All Around The World, and has maintained her reputation as one of the UK's biggest solo stars ever since.

She has three Brit awards to her name as well as a Grammy nomination and an Ivor Novello award.

In June she released her latest album "Face Up" which has been heralded for its combination of contemporary soul, gospel and pop.

The Ipswich concert will no doubt be a chance for fans to hear new material from the album as well as some of the singer's classic tracks.

Stansfield has a reputation of producing quality rather than a large quantity of songs.

When recently asked why she doesn't release more singles, she replied: "I think it's only fair that you put a record out once you have a great collection of songs together, which is exactly what I feel about face up."

Just a month after Stansfield's gig Gabrielle will be performing at the Regent, on November 15 and 16. Tickets for the first date sold out quickly and a second show was quickly added.

Tickets to see Lisa Stansfield go on sale tomorrow priced £22.50 and can be bought at the Central Box Office Princes Street Ipswich by calling 01473 433100 or on line at Gabrielle tickets are available the same way and are priced at £20.
