A 26-year-old man from Lithuania who has been in the country less than a week has been banned from driving after pleading guilty to drink driving.
Darius Feleckevicius, who has no fixed address in the UK but is staying at a Felixstowe hotel, was stopped by police at 1.55am on Sunday, September 3 while driving a gold VW Passat in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.
Police at the scene said he smelt of alcohol and a roadside breath test proved positive.
He was arrested and at the police station provided two further positive breath samples, the lowest of which was 67 microgrammes per 100ml of breath – almost twice the legal limit.
At South East Suffolk Magistrates Court, Feleckevicius pleaded guilty to drink driving, and was banned for 18 months.
Feleckevicius was also ordered to pay a £400 fine, £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £40.
