Thompson & Morgan has today delivered more than 600 bedding plants to St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

The locally-based mail order plants and seeds firm donated the plants which were left over from a massive planting exercise at RHS Garden Hyde Hall near Chelmsford.

On hand to receive the donated plants, which will either be planted in the hospice gardens or sold to raise funds, was St Elizabeth Hospice’s office services manager, Sue Tunaley.

She said: “We’re thrilled to receive this donation of plants from Thompson & Morgan. Our gardens here are an integral part of the Hospice. They provide a haven for patients, their families and visitors, as well as for hospice staff. We’ll plant as many of these plants as we can, and the rest we’ll sell to raise funds for the Hospice.”

Thompson & Morgan’s communications officer, Sonia Mermagen, added:“It is a pleasure to be able to donate these plants to St Elizabeth Hospice. We planted over 10,000 plants last week at RHS Garden Hyde Hall in Essex for our Floral Fantasia exhibition garden and had quite a few left over! We’re so pleased that they will be enjoyed in the Hospice gardens and that some will go towards raising funds for the great services that the Hospice provides.”

Thompson & Morgan is transforming an area of the well-known RHS site in Essex into a magnificent floral exhibition, called Floral Fantasia, which will showcase many varieties of bedding plants over the summer months.
