The Ipswich Corn Exchange, in Cornhill, plays host to a variety of events, and in 1976 it held the Eastern Counties Boxing Championship.
The grand hall was filled with a boxing ring, judges and a huge audience for an evening of high octane entertainment.
With multiple rounds throughout the evening there was plenty of action to be enjoyed and, as can be seen from some of our pictures, some hard punches coming in.
Eastern Counties is part of the Amateur Boxing Association, and fighters came from all parts of the east of England to participate in the championship.
Protective headgear is worn, and amateur contests are typically judged on the amount of contact made rather than the extent of any injuries caused to your opponent.
Do you remember watching the Eastern Counties Boxing Championship, or were you one of the competitors in the ring in 1976?
